Hi Broom!
Are you using the right type of Amp?
If you are playing the Bass Guitar on a regular Amp it will not make a sound due to the frequency difference between normal Electric guitar and Bass Guitar, Using a bass Guitar on a regular Amp can/will cause damage to the speaker.
If the Amp doesn't work, Use a pick!
Also, I'm not too sure how experienced you are with Guitars so here's an easy song to practise:
Black Sabbath, We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll/Paranoid, Iron Man:
G||---------------------------------------
D||----------------4-3-4-3-4-3----------
A||-1--4---4-6-6---------------4-4-6-6-
E||---------------------------------------
G||-------------------------------------
D||-------------------------------------
A||--1--1--4--1--0--------------------
E||-----------------6-6-6--1/5-5-5-6-
X1 X2
G||----------------|------------------------
D||----------------|-----------------6-7-8-
A||--6--------4----|-1-1-1-4-6-6-7-8----
E||-----------------|------------------------
X2 X7
G||--5-3-----------------|------------------------------------
D||------5-3-------------|------------------------------------
A||----------6-3-1-1-3-3-|-1-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-1-3-3-4-3-
E||-----------------------|-------------------------------------
*Play here 8 times On the ninth take out the two and put the rest in
after the 3
X8 X8-2+3
G||----------------|---|---------------
D||----------------|---|-3-4-3-4-3---
A||-6-----4----3---|-2-|-----------4-
E||----------------|---|---------------
And lastly, Here's a pic of my Bass and Bass Amp:
Fender Squire Precision Bass and a Lany RB2 30watt Bass Amp.

What is this- the airgun world bass players club?
I played the "double bass" or "bass violin" (that monstrosity of a stringed instrument that is about 3 times the size of an average cello) for a few years as part of a school orchestra. Seeing as I had no real "talent" I didn't continue with it- although when I was 15 I bought a BC Rich acoustic guitar (yes they made them), learned how to play "Wish You Were Here" and nothing else. Apparently music just isn't my 'thing'! |

There is a link to airguns, that is chuck out the Guitar and use the case to keep the gun in. Nobody knows you are going shooting when they see you, they just pass you off as just another head banger.

Oh oh- I guess we'll need to call you "Hitman Al" now!
Kinda like that movie with Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek a few years ago- can't remember the name of it- but his guitar case is a) a gun case and b) a self contained full-auto -something- that shoots alot, fast. |

It's a very small cheap bass-amplifier that I have.
My brother is in a band, a good one. LPG, Indy-pop from the Netherlands. Do a search on google and you're bound to run into them. I'm just starting to play bass. I should be playing guitar, but I'm a sloth.
I grew up with music. My dad's in a gospel choir, as he has always been. My brother used to do the trumpet, my sister can sing. Then another brother with the talent, without the expertise (it's his bass, he bought a new one when he came back from Afghan.) Then another brother who is a bass-player-singer in LPG, and then there's me, desperately trying to get a band going.
I'm more of a singer anyways. Still looking for a band though. |

'Desperado' was the one I was thinking. And WTF is "From Dusk to Dawn' even doing in there- except for Cheech Marin being in it that has got to be one of the most pointless movies made in the last 20 years.
Now I guess we'll be calling Al "The Desperado Hitman"! |

I recall the 'guitar case gunfighter' as one of the cameos in 'From Dusk Till Dawn' but there is no freekin' way I'm gonna watch it again to actually find out. |
