Target to download and print: Week 82; April 26> May 3/2009

1)Print to full-size on an A4 or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
2) Shooting distance is 5m/16.4ft for pistols.
3) Shooting distance is 10m/32.8ft for rifles.
3a) The rules for shooting 5m or 10 m are that the distance from the target to the firing line should be 10m for rifle and 5m for pistol.
All shots, from whatever shooting position must be made with the competitor wholly behind the firing line but able to touch it.
Basically the shooter should be behind the line but the part of the gun not being held by the shooter can protrude past the line.
4) All targets to be shot standing
5) Any sighting device may be used.
6) NO rests or steadying aids are allowed.
7) 22 shots total, 2 per target maximum. Up to 5 sighting/practice shots not on the clock using the Green
8) 15 minutes total time (take whatever amount of time for each shot you like, but at 15 minutes-stop!).
9) Scoring is as marked on target. Only two hit’s per target counts. Maximum point count is 220.
10) Entries need to be scanned or photographed and posted. Please list gun, pellet, sighting device and total time expended.
11) You can enter using both a pistol and a rifle as separate entries, only one entry for each, but all rules must be followed.
12) Score your own target. Winner and Runner-Up will be verified by board officials.
13) An honourable contest for sport- to lie or cheat, is the only real loser. Please keep it above-board!
14) Each competition runs from Monday to Sunday. Your entry must be posted in the forum no later than 23:00 GMT Sunday.
15) These rules are for this week's shooting competition and may change for others

Please make sure that the blue border is visible on your entry, plus the green dot is 12mm diameter on A4 paper.

Al

Okay, after shooting a bunch of targets too late on a Sunday to get them posted in time (not sure if I should post targets late, I know I won't win, but...)
This time, I shot the target early!
So, let's see. Squares. Stacked squares. Great. So, if you miss low, not
a problem, but miss high or to the sides, it could cost you ten points!
Adjust the sights to shoot a tad low, print out the target and post it in the holder.
Wow, is that square small. Have you ever tried to center a square in a circle? I'll have to get a square peep site next time and replace the front aperture with it.
Must have managed... Smile

(I liked this target. I don't mind the bullseyes, but I don't really feel challenged by those. Too much like my normal shooting to be "fun."
This target was fun!)

Walther LG300XT 10m standing peep
Match Diablos
13:45 (22 shots, was really hurrying...)
220/220

Okay, I feel really bad. Here is a competition and only two participants.
Should I withdraw? Is it fair that I'm using a target rifle against field guns?

I do this as a distraction from the rigors of the 10m discipline. It is fun.
But, I don't want to take the fun from other people. I don't want them to think that "Geez, oatring has shot X, I have no chance so I'm not going to try"
One reason I like competition is that it encourages me to shoot better.
When I first started shooting (everyone has a story like this) I thought I was okay. At least better than most of my friends. Shot in competition (this was NRA bullseye) and got creamed. Almost wanted to quit the sport. There were all these people who could shoot much better than me. But, they were a kind and friendly group who worked with me. And I kept shooting. With their encouragement, I started shooting better. A lot was, if they can do it, I can too!

Let me know what you want me to do.
The last thing I want to do is to discourage people from this wonderful sport.

Personally oatring it makes no difference to me, I don’t shoot to win other wise I would use my Twinmaster more often, not that it makes much difference these days. Getting a good score using a Webley pistol is more rewarding than a target pistol I think. Smile

Also when Brutuz won the other week he was dead chuffed (Very happy). Other wise we probably ignore you and do our own thing.Mr. Green

And when all said and done this is a shooting Competition, unfortunately I haven’t been able to shoot this week

Al

I enjoy entering, winning every once and a while is cool but not my reason to compete.

Doesn't matter if there are few or many competitors, I'll submit every week except when I'm away Cool

The fact that this is a mixed competition is okay, no problemo.

Just wish more people would join and submit their results Cool

That's acknowlidging Al's effort and good for the community-spirit.

English is not my first language, sometimes difficult to express my feelings.

Brutuz shot a 178. I was hoping he'd see me tease him.
I shot a few days ago and forgot to post. Shame on me as I had a 199. Since I shot it... here's the holes.

I did a copy/paste and forgot to adjust the score Mr. Green

That's a very good result with your 2300 Bean Cool

I'm in the process of ordering a custom .22 2300, that punches BIGGER holes *GRIN*

Thanks!! You are right there with me on the other matches we shoot together, usually ahead of me.

I've said it before - I love my 2300 but I go through phases. I can stack pellets one day and have 2 inch groups the next (usually the day I shoot this match :-) ). The trigger has an inconsistant feel. If it gets worse I'll look for some custom trigger work. I would love a .22 version but all my other stuff is .177 and I get confused easily Laughing . Besides, I shoot a lot and .22 pellets cost noticably more (double in many cases) I'll just have to get better with what I have.

Personally, Oatring, I think it's great to have you as a yardstick.... Cool

I shot Dominion Marksman .22 Indoor for many years, and eventually got my Silver Shield.... We shot sporting rifles at 20 yards, with a 1" 10-ring.... I went to ONE match held by the DCRA (serious target types) and when I saw the target, I nearly fainted.... They shot at 25 yards, and the 10-ring was 1/4", with the X-ring being a dot about 0.090" or so.... Shocked

I actually shot better at that match than I ever shot before, and qualified (just barely) as a "Marksman" (their lowest catagory).... I can't remember my score, but I do remember that the winner and runner up at the match settled who was on top by the number of "X's".... they both shot perfect scores.... Shocked

I did all my .22 Indoor with a Winchester Model 69 which weighs about 4.5 lbs, shooting in a 7.5 lb class.... and I had a blast doing it.... Cool

Bob
