Last year I bought a new QB -78 barrel from Archer Air guns, and with having it shipped to the UK I asked them to check it out and make sure it was ok, as it is expensive to return faulty goods.
Upon receiving the barrel I installed it on my QB and it was total rubbish, in fact it would shoot around corners (just joking), but it was bad, the worst bit was that the hole down the barrel just wondered around where it liked, so after playing around with it for a while I just chucked it in a draw and left it, but like tooth ache it keeps gnawing away each time I open the draw.
So I got it out today and was determined to sort it out once and for all, I started off by cutting 2 inches off the end then another 2 inches then 3 inches, and the hole did indeed wonder around, taking the flat across the breach as a reference the hole was sometimes looking to the left then up the to the right, each time I tried it on the gun but it was no better so now I have now given up on it, and thrown it in the scrap bin.
I would have posted this in the Airsmithing forum but I didn’t think this heap of junk warranted being classed as something to do with airguns, probably better in the BS topic.

If you had kept going, you would likely have ended up with a custom 'QB78 Pistol'.
Sometimes crap is just crap. |

Ha Ha, I thought about that but that would have given me a 10flb pistol and five years in jail.

I’m going to do that one of these days, but the original barrel seems to be working ok at the moment Anton at least out to 20m. I keep looking for a barrel but any thing with a decent one is to expensive.

Al:
I can understand your disappointment, especially after specifically asking that the barrel be thoroughly inspected prior to shipment and your distant location from the dealer.
Have you tried to tried to contact Steve Archer? Although I have never dealt with his shop, posts by others suggest he is a reputable dealer and willing to work with a customer to resolve an obvious product flaw.
Good luck,
Amigo |
