Hi all

What are your opinions on the Crosman Air-Source 2250XT ??

My brother was thinking of getting one, Mainly for Ratting, And a bit of target shooting.

Is there anything He and I should know about this rifle before buying it??

Also, I do know that this rifle is very popular and therefore has a lot of mods going for it. (Modifications, not Moderators LOL!)

The 2250XT is the newer 2250 with the scope in the box. Any of the 22xx series mods can be done to it.

The people who love it all to death seem to be the same people who love the 2240. For me however, it always comes back to it being essentially a pistol conversion (a 2240 with the optional Crosman stock, the scope rail, and now the AS power source). If I were serious about shooting targets and rats (especially targets)- I'd probably look at the 2260 first.

But- if someone were to attach a bulk hose to it instead of the heavy AS cartridge and use a paintball tank attached to their belt- it would then be a pretty simple matter to replace the stock with a set of 2240 grips and remove the scope- and ta-da you now also have more of a pistol. As in- it could work as both an extended length pistol and and lower-end rifle, with the right power source attached to it.

Hi AirGunEric

Thanks for the reply! I didn't think anyone would respond, As I haven't noticed anyone else mentioning the 2250 around here till now.

Anyways, Do you know what the "XT" part of the name actually means??
I Know the "AS" stands for "Air-Source" obviously, But I'm confused to what the "XT" means, Also I seen "2250B's" as well!!

My brother was considering getting the 2240 a while back, But decided not to (UK Airgun Laws on pistols), 6fpe is not enough to kill a fly not alone a rat!!

As for the 2260: That ones reserved for Me, When I get round to buying one, And my bro seems to lean more towards the more tactical look, So it looks like it's going to be the AS2250XT for him then.

Also Bulking might come later as well!!

Yes, 'AS' is for AirSource.

The 'XT' is a bit confusing, however, Crosman usually puts an 'X' in a model number when they add a scope as part of the package- but the 2250B also comes with a scope in the package! I suppose Crosman added the scope to the 2250 after the AS2250(X) already had a scope on it, so they called it a '2250B' and then maybe added the "T" to the 2250XT so as to minimize confusion between the two. The error of our thinking here is perhaps that Crosman really is consistent and has a "plan" most of the time- I don't think they were or are in respect to the 2250 vs. AS2250XT model numbers.

One thing I forgot to mention about the 2250XT- it has a steel breech (the 2250B only has a plastic one)- so this is a bonus for modding (it's there to support the weight of the AS cartridge). Also- the 2250B scope is a Crosman 4x15, whereas the AS2250XT gets the larger 4x32 scope.

So, if one were wanting to buy a 2250B, install a steel breech and use a bigger scope- the 2250XT is a better deal.

And one last item- I understand that most people that use the AS2250XT find it to be terribly rear-heavy because of the AS cartridge- so installing a heavy brake or suppressor might help balance this (I hate the weight of AS cartridges too!).

I don't think you killed the thread! I don't think any of the people around here (not many apparently) that have 2240s or 2250s have seen the post yet. Let us know what you think of it up close.

Hey 23ib0d0n

I like the Pic, Very Gangsta lookin'!!!

Also is that a bulk CO2 bottle hanging under the forearm??

And what's with the name " crooked barn featherweight 2240"??
Obviously you call it a 2240, Cu's I take it that it's a 2240 converted into a 2250 with a shoulder stock (I Think).

It is a 2240 body with a 2260 barrel and gets about 400 shots on the 3 1/2 oz tank doing right at 170m/s using 14.3 grain crosman pellets

For anyone on the other side of the ocean(s)- Crooked Barn is a US-based airgun parts supplier, modifier, tuner, etc. etc. with some interesting custom-type parts:

One of the people on the dutch forum where I hang also has a crooked barn gun.

Didn't they come up with a nice repeating system yet?
