I haven't really seen any modifications for the Pneumatic guns, looks like the favorites are the break-barrel and the Co2. I've got the Remmington AirMaster 77 and I think it's a decent gun. Only use pellets in the gun, and I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for loading pellets into this sucker. Wishing I had gone with a break-barrel because for me, not only do I have to give it a good 6+ pumps, I fight every shot loading the pellet's in the darn thing because of how they load into the side.

Not so sure about loading pellets becoming easier, but you can reduce the pumping effort by installing a flat top piston, i.e. something like this: http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/product_info.php?cPath=38&products_id=194

We actually need to have a topic/discussion in here describing the FTP in more precise terms.

Also, for reference, the AM77 is a Crosman 2100 with different cosmetics, so anything that can applied to the 2100 is the exact same for the AM77.

second, i actually have one of those floating around here somewhere, in pieces, stuffed in a box, awaiting the day i get caught up enough to play around with it.
when i was shooting it regularly, i found that holding the rifle pointed downward and tilted to the left, made loading pellets slightly easier. oh and re-crown that barrel!!!

I haven't been able to find any Flat Top Pistons for a 2100 or an AM77. Maybe I'm just not sure to look, but google returns nothing on the different combo's I've tried.

I find that even tilting it sideways I have a 50/50 chance of dropping the pellet in backwards and have to dump it out and try again. I might have to fab something to help drop the pellets in right. I wish they put a spring loaded pellet chamber instead of the BB chamber so I could just load 8-10 and be good for a couple shots. When you re-crowned your AM77, did you have to take it apart and strip the inner barrel from the outer barrel? Looking at the sticky on re-crowning a barrel, it looks like whatever I use may end up being blocked by the black plastic attached to the front sights providing a buffer between the inner (copper color) barrel and the outer (silver color) barrel.

Over all, I'm very happy with the gun. I picked up Gamo scope from Dick's Sporting Goods that they had opened at the store for next to nothing and I've about got it zeroed in at ~20-25 meters.

yea, to re-crown the barrel, you have to remove it from the shroud. but its not hard to do at all

Welcome, msbullock, to a hobby fraught with frustration, expense, and spousal ire. I hope you love it as much as we do. Nice to have you around.

Polishing the muzzle crown isn't a bad place to start.

While I am not familiar with your gun, I have had loading problems on other guns. My best advice is to experiment with different procedures until you get it right, and maybe keep a pencil or other tool handy to flip the pellet before you close the bolt.

For example, I have an Avanti (Daisy) 853 with a scope, and it is a royal pain to simply drop pellets into the slot. I found that rollng them in from the side works on that one.

Took the shroud off and was able to re-crown the barrel with my dremel. I gotta say though, the way it came wasn't too bad. Crosman did a good job, It looks like I more just polished it off.

I'm thinking about getting an air rifle that I don't have to pump so many times to get the same consistent shot. A brake barrel seems like the way to go. Something in the .22 caliber area if I wanted to take down small-mid game. Anyone ever use the Walther Falcon Hunter Edition? 1k FPS on a .22 for around $250 sounds good to me. 22 out of 36 give it 5 stars 4.5 overall on reviews... IDK, didn't come up with anything around here.

I use a blunt tipped tweezer to gently grip the pellet and drop it in nicely in the loading trough. Seemed awkward at first, but once you get used to it, I can actually load pellets in ALL my guns even faster than using just my fingers. HTH.

BTW. If you ever remove the barrel again, try this. The barrel in those series of rifles "slips in" to the breech block, which in turn results in an air leak when you fire the gun. There are several ways to fix this. One way if to use medium strength locktight where the barrel meets up with the breech block. Another is to put several wraps of plumbing teflon tape on the portion of the barell that goes into the breech block. Put enough wraps so that the barrel fits snugly in the breech block.

. I bought this gun today and its cool but have a question about the bold on it. Is it normal for me to have to push it in slightly and then pull back? It looks like it kinda stick out just a hair? is it so it wont accidentally open when firing the rifle? I looke around at pics and videos and mine looks normal but just thought I would ask here

I just got the AM 77 too. I like it a lot. I want to replace the scope with one of better quality. Any suggestions? I am afraid a larger scope will hit the fixed sight. Please let me know the make/model if anyone has tried a larger scope.

I am getting decent groups at 100 feet with 10 pumps, but I think greater magnification on the scope will help. Loading pellets can be a pain, but just shoot as many as you have time for one afternoon and you'll develop a rhythm and motion that works best for you. I guess you just get used to it. When I first started I was actually dropping them in backwards on purpose so they would land forwards! Now I'm used to it and can put them in correctly.
