Hi H
If your buying from the USA you will pay vat at 17.5% on everything over £30 including the shipping cost, this you will be billed to you by the shipper when the items you ordered arrive in the UK, on top of this you will pay £8.00 for the paperwork involved in charging you for this service.
If you can get the item sent to you as a gift, then up to £18.00 is free and for anything over then a max of £30.00, but you must not pay someone to send the gift.
Remember you cannot import airguns or pellets from the USA.
It all sounds a bit daunting at first but you just have to work out you total cost plus Vat @ 17.5% plus £8.00 and thats it.
I hope it helps

I just came back to qualify that statment Eric.
What I intended to say was that you cannot import a complete gun, it needs to be striped down, unless you have an FAC certificate, also alot of US dealers will not ship complete guns.
If you order an air rifle from Archer Airguns over the internet they will remove it from the order and charge you $50 for the privilege.

Hmm- that might cause the gentleman that ordered a 'detuned' Crosman 2289 from me to have some issues, and might explain why he has (as far as I know) been waiting for 2 weeks for it arrive at his door- with nothing so far.
Perhaps I should make it clear to people they need to know their own country's import laws- no one (as far as I know) is in the business of tracking airgun laws around the world... |

The law this end is a bit hazey the goverment makes the law but the Home Office or Customs Dept interpret the law as they think.
If your item arrived here and was deemed illegal then the intended recipient should be notified by the Customs or shipper. It is possible to get an airgun through in one piece it just depends who looks at it, but it's a bit of a gray area.
Al
PS:
If you sent an airgun that as been altered to below 12 flb you need to state that it is below 12 flb some dealers attach a crony print out to the shipping docs, this applies to springers, PCP guns is made since last October require the power regulator to be sealed and tamper proof, now in the UK if you need the power resetting on your PCP it has to go back to the maker. |
