8 Shot Magazine Carrier
I made this carrier because I was fed up with losing magazine’s and forgetting which pocket they were in and when I did find them half the pellets had fell out.
So this is the result, you can make it out of any suitable material wood , aluminium, or like I have done plastic, the only thing you do need is a clear piece of plastic for the top so that you can see how many full magazines or left, I haven’t put any sizes on because it depends how many magazines you want to hold, the only things you need to watch are that the holes in the yellow centre piece need to fit what ever mags you are using it for, the hole in the base slightly smaller so that the mag cannot drop through, and the cut out in the clear top needs to be slightly bigger than the yellow centre, also the diameter of the top and bottom need to be smaller than the centre so that you can turn the centre mag holder round, the centre piece ( white nylon ) has a spring loaded pin so as to index the mag holder by the groves cut into the bore of the yellow centre.
When using the mag carrier if you leave one slot clear then when you take an empty mag out of your gun drop it in the empty slot turn the centre holder round to the next full mag and remove. You always know how many full mags you have left and how many shots you have taken. Very handy for field target, speed target shooting, Practical Pistol
ect.

That looks pretty handy. The visual aspect of being able to see how shots you have available is good. I've been putting my rotary magazines in plastic film canisters. Once I finish with my two slowly moving airgun projects (1077 valvespring/feed tube changes and Relum restoration) I may give that a try.
What is the diameter and thickness of the holder? |

The holder is 3 1/4 dia and thickness is 9/16.
The top and bottom discs are 3 1/16" dia x 1/8" thick
The centre disc is 3 1/4" x 3/16" thick
To work out the hole centres, place the number of mags that you intend to use plus one, in a ring with a gap of 1/16 to 1/8 between them, stack then around a dollar piece or anything of a suitable size, measure the diameter between the mag hole centers from one side to the other to get the diameter, and with a pair of dividers scribe a circle round the disc half that measurement, make a guess at the distance between each mag center and set the dividers to that size make a mark on the line you have just scribed put one end of the scriber on it and mark off the number of mag holes to go in the disc, the last mark should finish on the start mark if it does not adjust the dividers in or out untill it does. Don't forget you need one hole more than the amount of mags you intend use.
It's easier than it looks.

Hunting through one of my tool boxes I came across this cable marker which is used for applying numbers to electrical cables, but if you remove the number drums and the metal tear off strip, you have got a very good mag carrier. It might be of intrest to anyone over that side of the pond as it is made in the USA and possibly easily obtainable, what the cost is I haven't a clue.

Now that would be handy! Even has a loop to attach a line and hang it on your belt.
3m stuff isn't generally cheap, however- they tend to occupy the "premium" market space for most of their products. Nice that the part number is printed right on that label- I may have to inquire about it. |

It works very well but like I said I haven't a clue how much it cost, if you do buy one you get all the rolls of numbed self adhesive tape which come in handy.

Ah ha!! Found it!
Here's a link to "3M" where I found them:
3M Products
(See what I mean about these link addresses Alstone!!)
"3M2 Doesn't specify the prices on their site though.
I also found the exact same thing @ parts.digikey.com, You can either buy a full dispenser or you can just buy the dispenser
on its own, But the full dispenser will cost $38.96 USD and the dispenser on it's own will cost $12.79 USD
Here's the link to the full dispenser:
Full Dispenser
And here's just the dispenser on it's own:
Dispenser alone
These Link addresses will definitely need to be shortened!!!
Hope this helps anyway!!

Done. That's why on some posts you see just a "title" and not the full link. Unfortunately, posting links so the title is only visible is a manual process. As an example:
-quotes not used in actual post-
"My title I made up that will be displayed instead of the full link"
You can also put in underlines and bold attributes, which I did on your links.
And good research- for $12 a dispenser might be very worthwhile- at $40 or $50 you better need those numbers for something! |

Here's a link to the RS site for cable markers, but I think the cost is a bit over the top.

I have two rotary mags for a Daisy Powerline 008 that I would gladly give to anyone who will send a stamped self addressed envelope to me. I'm not sure if regular postage would get it done. Maybe someone knows better than me about that. |
