Eventually I'll have enough cash to buy a back up rifle for hunting. When I do I plan on doing the standard mods that can be done to a 1077.
My question is this. I know that this particular model isn't one of the best platforms to modify. Well, other then asthetically. I'm just curious how far this can be taken power wise. And be backed up with chrono numbers.
I figure as long as I'm going to have it apart, if there's ANYTHING else I can do to improve it's preformace, I might as well do it then, so I don't have to take it apart again later.
I've seen many many mods for adding bulk air. And I don't like any of them. They either require a hose of some sort or the bottle would get in the way of mounting a bipod.
I did see one where the gas chamber had been expanded and a pressure gauge was added on the end. I'm assuming that this is a pca version, but there was no write up on it.
One idea of my own is to order a stock 24" crosman replacement barrel and put that on there. Not sure how long the barrel is now, and it might look funny with a longer one on it, but what the heck, if it improves the power, why not?

As-is and doing common hammer/hammer spring modifications as well as opening up the valve, you will max out at around 725fps using 7.9gr pellets. At that point you will be wasting alot of Co2 as it won't fully expand by the end of the barrel.
What 24" barrel were you proposing to try and put into the 1077? Anything out there, at the very least would require a bit of machining at the receiver end to be able to grab the clip that holds the barrel in place (and allow for it to be moved if a pellet or magazine gets jammed),
If you could put a 24" barrel on it, it is likely you would be over 800fps w/7.9gr pellets. |

| I figured that much. I am concidering purchasing a metal lathe in the future. So doing the barrel notch wouldn't be much of an issue. I probably wouldn't be putting a walther barrel on it. The rifle isn't worth that much effort. While searching for mods, I did find one place that sells stock replacement generic barrels for $25 that are 23" long. |

Have a link for that? I'd like to investigate a bit. |

| I considered turning down a 24" 1760 barrel to fit... But I have not had a chance to do it yet... |

| It's not just the barrel... You have to make a bushing or drill out the front sight. |

Joe, should I go ahead with this. We've already discussed getting a barrel stablizer from you, then adding a muzzle break to the end of it. But that would leave anywhere from 3-4" sticking out the end. More if I lop off the "fake" barrel to eliminate the slice where the front site is.
What I'm thinkg as my first home brewed project is to get some bar stock. Drill a hole just large enough so the barrel will slip through it. Then drill a larger hole on the back end large enough that I can tap the inside. Question is, is that stamped metal the fake barrel is made out of strong enough to cut a thread into.?
Thanks,
Jax |

The outer barrel is not thick enough...
I was going to steal DR36's idea and do a stainless outer barrel in the lenght that I need...
Hold on to your panties... I all ready made it into a bully...

| Sweet joe! We'll have to chat some more about this when I get to that point. Right now....gotta decide between the 2300 or the air hawk. |

Jax, I'd go for the 2300 if I were you. There's a lot more written about it, and you can get a thumb hole stock for that too you know. |

| Joe, I got to thinking, if the outer metal is too thin to thread, you're muzzle breaks are held on using set screws then? |
