I was watching "Street Patrol" last night which is like a rip off version of "Cops". Anyway, the cops got called out to a domestic disturbance to a very white trashy familly dispute with an equally trashy neighbor. Apparently the boys or someone had used their dad's trusy Pumpmaster bb gun to threaten somebody. And the lady they threatened was like "Then they brought out a shotgun or a bbgun or something and pointed it at me." which I thought was hilarious. A shotgun OR a bb gun....because they look so similar right? WTF?

That part was funny, but the best part was at the end of the episode when they went to black screen with white letters, public service announcement style. And it said "Every year there are 30,000 airgun related injuries or deaths..." And it said something else about them not being toys or something and then just went to the credits.

Once again...stupid hilljacks with bb guns make the rest of us REAL airgunners look bad.

No, I think they were probably referring to the kids that got shot in the eye and heart and killed with bb guns.

Now granted, it may be worth reminding people that bb guns are really not toys, but you could say the same thing about anything really. I mean power tools are just as dangerous, if not more so, but people don't need PSA's about those.

I would be interested to know the source for that figure. A show of that genre wouldn't be above making it up.

Well, I know I was one of the 30,000 injured last year, so I can say I contributed to that. And I don't know if it was Slavia or someone else, but someone on here shot their finger off a while back, so that's two for the year.

I guess I don't really dispute the dangers of airguns, but it's showing some redneck threatening his neighbor with a pumpmaster bb gun as the "example" of airgun hazards which I find a bit misleading.

And this may seem wierd to say, but self-inflicted injuries are not nearly as bad as wrecklessness that leads to other people besides yourself being shot.

Oh man! Did ya ever get that bit of flesh between your thumb and index finger caught in that spring clip that keeps the lever closed on a Daisey Red Rider? Now that hurts!
