This kind of thing is extremely rare, and when American soldiers are guilty of this type of atrosity they are almost always taken, convicted, and punished.

If you took the same quantity of young men in any major metropolitan area (read intr-city) you would find the murder rate much higher. Of course you can't say anything about them because the poor dears have been raised in a bad environment OH WAIT isn't Iraq a bad environment? Left wing propaganda against our servicemen just like Congressman Murtha the traitor who villified some of our hero marines and said that western Penn. was all racist!

I've given up trying to reason with cw. He has his mind firmly set and refuses to consider other point sof view. It's hard to deal with that. Like the old phrase everyone used to laugh at "some of my best friends are black", while it was used ofteen as cover, it could often be a "trusim" uttered by people who didn't see why it was funny.

I would say I'm pretty firmly "blue collar". But that in itself is a steyotype. What is a "typical" blue collar American? If I set out here to give evidence I' "not" a raceist, it's much like saying, "some of my best friends are black".

So....what would the sterotypical statements of cw be classed as?

I said MOST, and that is what I have found to be true. As far as the black
thing. I have a lot of black friends and have taken a lot of crap for it
over the years. I have found in my travels through life that there is good
and bad people in all races.

My best friend is black, worth $1.7 million, owns 3 very nice houses,
owns his own very successful business and will help anyone in need,
yet is shunned and disrespected by a lot of the small minded rednecks
around here. I almost shot one of the freaks with my deer rifle last
year that had stopped in front of his driveway, blocking his truck
and was flipping that racest crap they all know so well, to him and
his small kids. I did get to kick his a$$ royally (actually, when I think
about it, I kind of made him kick his own a$$) a few months back.
I was coming out of the hardware store and he and two of his
buddies cornered me and stated that they were going to teach me
a lesson about who I could hang out with. When I started redirecting his
body mass (not very gentley), his buddies ran for the hills.

That is one thing I can’t stand for in this predominately white county I live in. They way the people stare down any one who is not white. I see it happen and I go out of my way to tip my hat or extend my hand right in front of the offender.

I look redneck as all getup and love the scoffs that I get for being decent human being. That is just who I am even if I was not raised that way…

I'm not niave enough to think racism is gone. But in my experince it has "ducked it's head" more. While I don't know anyone with over a mill$ to spend....whatever race, my son's best friend is black and practically grew up in our house. I so far have never run on anyone who "acted" in a racist manner openly...at least in my seeing or hearing. (I don't doubt that there are idoits around who whispered behind our backs) I have run on these idoits who seem to assume you'll agree with them, and it's usually pretty easy to shut them down. (One of the most uncomfortable experinces of my life was whan i was doing some work for a customer who started spouting racist nonsence....as an employee of my company I had to keep my mouth shut. All I coud do was appear disapproving. I hated it) So the crazies are still there. I just hope there are fewer of them.

But, again the negative approach doesn't help. We have to move on beyond this and all of us whatever our race or ethnic orgin become Americans. We can blame each other for our failure to do this if we want, but so long as we do, we will only grow further apart. We have to reach the point where racists, white, black, asian, or martain are treated as what they are...nothing.

So, "blue collar", "white collar", rich, poor, eastern, wester, cowboy, hunter, computer geek, hamburger slinger....we all have to start to think. Unfortunately, I see very little sign that we are anywhere near that. Thinking is far too much work when there is so much "predigested mental pap" out there being spewed from the idiot box we all worship before in or living and bed rooms. Think! Just because ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, CSNBC, or whoever says it's so, don't make it so!

It's even possible that reading might still be a useful skill.

Racial prejudice aside, nowadays, a lot of people
have a weird, disassociated, self-centered attitude and
lack any form of compassion for anyone outside of their
