Would this CO2 work in my 2240?

Hey all, quick question for anyone who knows.

I work at best buy and we have compressed air products for computer cleaning. The other day we got in these new (what look like my crossman CO2 Powerlets) compressed air metal cylinders. I'm wondering if they will fit my gun since I get a discount on them (true cost + 10%).

Are these standard? Would they be filled to a certain level? Would they be less than the crossman branded stuff?

There are a couple of 12gram caplet styles- "threaded" and "unthreaded" are ones I've seen. The ones used in Crosman Co² guns are unthreaded.

These ones you have access to will likely work- assuming they have a similar "breakable" top cover that is pierced by some sort of "pin".

I, personally, would take one of the Crosman caplets in and compare it for physical sizing- if they're the same- try them.

Alot of bulk Co² vendors (look in the 'Deals and Auctions' Topics for a Canadian-based vendor of this sort) make different varieties of caplets for other uses (what, specifically I don't know).

To summarize this a bit- as long as they are the same size (length and overall diameter) and are pierced at the top like a standard airgun caplet- I don't see any problem.

The only thing you might want to do if using them is put a bit of PelGunOil (the Crosman lubricant for Co² guns) on the tip before inserting it in your gun- apparently Crosman puts lubricant in their caplets- not much at all- but enough to have a bit flowing through the gun to avoid caplets sticking to the piercing pin and such. Putting a bit on the tip of a caplet before inserting it will probably add more lubricant to the system than the amount Crosman puts in their caplets!

Let us know how it works out- maybe these units are also cheaper for the consumer than buying Crosman items. Or, if someone is in a rush for caplets and is closer to a BestBuy than anywhere else with 'genuine' caplets this could be useful info.

I'll give them a try and let you know how it works. If I remember correctly, its a few bucks cheaper for 4 cylinders than the crossmans

After thinking about this for awhile- it occurred to me that the foodservice industry uses Co² caplets- and I'm pretty sure they were unthreaded 12g caplets. Many many years ago when I was flinging beer over the bar to dedicated alcoholics and college kids trying to kill time- we had caplets to load into a spritzer-type setup to produce whipped cream. No lubricant was put in the cartridges as this was obviously a food product application- but maybe that's one of the more common applications these "bulk" vendors of Co² caplets are addressing.

Know anyone who works in a sit-down type restaurant? See if they can produce a caplet or two for comparison (even an empty caplet would work). I'd do this, but I don't know anyone in the restaurant business these days. Shrug
