Out of curiosity I tried shooting some bottle caps with my talon to test penetration. I took four beer bottle caps and placed them back to back and taped them together in a tube-like shape. I fired at it from about 7 yards at only 3/4 power using kodiaks.
It penetrated the first two and put a big dent in the third, so much so that the forth had a slight dent as well. Doesn't seem like much, but keep in mind that they are made of metal. The pellet some how bounced back out of there and I found it all mangled laying on the floor a few feet away. |

I tried that Roger and got the same results using a .177 TX200 11.5 flb at 10m, but I reckon that if the bottle tops were spread out a bit more it would get through three.

| Well, I did them facing the same direction, which means there was a gap between the tops that was the same distance as the width of the bottle caps themselves, if that makes sense. It's probably because the energy was passed back through all of them that it didn't penetrate as far as it could. I'm sure if it was set up right you could get through three or four. It was a fun experiment nonetheless. |
