Advantages of CO2; no recoil like a springer so it's easier to shoot. No scuba tanks and hoses and gauges...blah, blah, blah like a PCP gun. AFFORDABLE and good power! Drawback; teperature sensitive. As the temps drop, so does your power. If you live in the North you will feel it BAD! If you are in the South, minimal changes...depends where you live and the temp extremes. The Crosmans are good guns because the can be heavily modified to any degree you desire; parts and service are everywhere. Have no experience with the Benjys. But your best bet for a great shooter is the Hammerli/Rws 850 Magnum. German made gun (great barrel for accuracy!), 8 shot magazine and easily converted to a 9oz tank (350-400 shots a fill!); the 9oz tank can be refilled at any paintball shop for $2-$3 a fill! Compare to 12 gram carts or AirSource carts; AS are about $12 for 2!
Look here:
http://www.the850store.com/
I got one and it is my favorite gun now! And I am a dyed in the wool HW springer devotee! Got the valve mod, trigger mod, barrel work and the adapter for the 9oz tank. Been shooting my first tank for 2 weeks now....when will it run out?!?!?! Got an extra full one waiting to go! $15 dollars per FULL tank at the paintball shop near my house. Call around to the shops near you as the 9oz tanks are falling out of favor with the paintballers; they're switching to 20oz. So I got about $350 bucks in my gun including a Famous Maker 4-12x40mm scope and Accushot rings! Shoots oneholers with FTS and RWS Superpoints at 25yds! Oh yeah, don't fool yourself with feet per second numbers, just get the 22 cal...hits
HARD!

There is one disadvantage to Co2 beyond it's cost: cool weather. Co2 expands progressively slower in cooler temperatures so Co2-powered guns output less and less energy as the temperature drops.

Here's a calculator to get an idea of the effect of temperature on Co2:

http://www.airgunhome.com/pages/calculators.html

Second to last calculator at bottom of page- try 68* F vs. 60*F- you lose 83psi in pressure on only 8* (833psi vs 750psi)- that's 10% less power. Try it with 68* vs 32* (the freezing point)- down to 506psi or roughly a 39% loss in power on a Co2 gun.

I don't know where you live, I live in Nashville and the temps stay in the "very useable" range up through Nov. usually (say close to 70f) in the summer of course we hit the 90s (f) regularly so no problem. The 850 mentioned is the next purchase on my rader. I like co2, though be sure you have enough power if you intend to hunt. I would also recommend this sight:http://www.mountainaircustomairguns.com/

By the way, isn't the Benjamin you mentioned a pumper?
