Highly inappropriate for a responsible air gun forum I would have thought, unless someone knows something I don't. I would have to assume that "gun" triggers this sort of thing. In the last 6 months or so, I think there have been 2 or 3 "body armor" and police-equipment -type ads up top. One time I went to this gun store to look for scope rings. Well it turned out it was a large, multi-store outlet that had a shooting range and tactical/military equipment. It was like 8000 sq/feet or something. Naturally, they didn't have the simple part that "I" needed, but I got to see the "type" of customer those places have. It was mostly cops and soldiers, but it made me wonder why those people would need to go to a civilian store to purchase equipment. Doesn't the military and the police department furnish their employees with the gear they need? I have a feeling these guys get into the role and want to be super cop or super soldier more than any other reason. _________________ I done been assisted by the trees and rivers. What on earth could be innapropriate about body armor? People wear helmets on motorcycles don't they. Wearing body armor hurts nobody! Now I don't feel I need it where I live but if somebody lived in a bad neighborhood might be good idea or might be silly but silly isn't illegal or immoral or inapropriate as far as I can see! Imagine going to a cooking website and seeing a banner for airguns. They are not related. It's more like you were looking at cooking knives and you saw a banner for ninja swords. Sharp things can be used as weapons is the same principle as people who shoot projectiles might need protection from projectiles. I think the answer Bill is how many airgunners have you seen wearing body armor, they certainly aren't going to sell many kits, unless of cause there are a few riot cops hanging about here. Their search engine looks about the site, picks up terms and words and attempts, through whatever wonderful theories, to place "appropriate" ads on the site. Unfortunately, this is not generally monitored by any live people and alot of useless crap gets put up in the ads- like the Network Sentry stuff, or that "wife beating" ad months ago, and so on. Body armor likely gets placed here because of all the mention of "guns". The other stuff that sometimes appears I can only try to guess why it gets placed. _________________ ` I'd say "I care." I have seen a guy on the street in a large European city who was dressed in full body armor regalia. He also had full tactical gear strapped or velcrowed everywhere! This included a holster looking deal on his hip which held a spray can of some sort! At first I thought he was some official anti-terrorist guy! He wasn't, it seems that it is a style now among young people, presumably with inadaquacy issues perhaps? Since airguns attract so many young guys who want to be Rambo-ish or pretend they are a sniper or great white hunter it may not be as bad a spot to advertise after all!   Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 9:05 am Rogerflat Silver Status Member Joined: 03 Jan 2008 Posts: 2051 I consider myself a sniper of sorts. I've got 3 or 4 ghillie suites, woodland and desert camo out fits, and multiple survival and combat knives, not to mention an insane amount of airguns. When I was younger I used to run around in camo with utility belts with all sorts of gear on like I was a commando. But even with all that, I STILL wouldn't wear body armor, even if you gave it to me for free! But I think that AirGunEric hit the nail on the head. It's just an algorythm that finds keywords and matches banners with similar keywords. This is just one of thousands of sites where people get on and talk about guns.
