How do I remember the date? My parents gave it to me on the day my brother was born, probably as a bribe to accept the new kid. It was one of those lever-action Daisy "popguns" (a BB gun minus the barrel, with a rivet across the compression tube to prevent insertion of foreign objects). Tommy Pierson down the street and I ripped the rivet out with pliers, and figured out how to load it by jamming it into the dirt. There was a big dirt pile at the end of a high school football field. We would go hide there, prepared to defend our position against the advancing "armies." We never did shoot, probably because we had a sense that shooting at people would be bad for a multitude of reasons. Plus, they retreated frequently. I don't have the gun, but I still have the brother. He's had a few seals replaced, but the spring is good, and I would estimate finish at about 95%. He is an air gunner, and a better shot than I. He re-introduced me to air guns as an adult. Slavia, Those Daiseys were called the 960 noise maker at the factory and they were marketed as "Old Trusty" I still have my 1956 Old Trusty (with rivet) oiled they still make a good noise! They were built from 1953 thru 2000! Yes they would shoot a clump of clay pretty good!
