I have been trying to get this Gamo Whisper zeroed since I bought it. The scope it came with would throw pellets off as far as 3" at 30 yards. I took it off and was using the Iron sights and they did all right. Then the front fiber optic sight just completely came apart in 3 pieces. No Idea how. Bought another scope and got it zeroed at 30 yards and was good for about 15 rounds. Came out this morning to do some target shooting and it was off by over an inch. Do Gamos suck??? its my first airgun and I was lured by the power. (I didn't find this sight til after the buy) Are break barrels notoriously inaccurate? Should I get a Beeman with a side lever? any help would be great.
P.S I have a marlin 60 .22 firearm with a crappy BSA scope from walmart for 16.99 and the thing is dead on every time I pick it up. I can shoot Wink

Well, as an experiment I took off the scope from my Marlin 60 and put it on the Gamo. Shot 25 at a paper target to get it zeroed and then shot these three targets trying my best to bullzeye every shot. Maybe I'll put the Gamo scope on the .22 Marlin and see if it stays zeroed. This was the best group since I bought the gun. They were at 30 paces/yards +-

Gamo's aren't all crap- but indeed, many are these days. Does it say on the Whisper where it was made? If it was anywhere but Spain- it may be the rifle at this point and not you...

There is something else I can't blame Gamo on, which is their quality control.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one this is happening to. Chances are, it's another factor besides the gun itself. Unless something on the gun or scope was "loose" then it should be shooting consistently, even if off target. If you are getting wacky groups, then there is some other factor causing these variances--pellet, shooting technique, etc.

make sure you are using a springer rated scope a side lever and break barrel are both springers so changing that wont do much... if you had anything besides a .22 rimfire it would most likely destroy your AG scope

The thing is that with the double recoil of a spring powered airgun, the scope will be getting all the whoopin' a scope can get and probably a lot more too.

I had a cheap laser sight that was supposedly meant for airguns. It was probably meant for CO2 pistols or pneumatics in reality.

I attached it to my springer pistol and the forward recoil caused the laser to completely bounce out of its housing and would be dangling by the connecting wires after every shot. All they had to do was put a screw, pin, or latch on there to secure the laser, but apparenly those idiots aren't smart enought to understand the concept of forward recoil.

who are you talkin about roger? i have a laser sight that has little set screws in it that hold it in place and that doubble as adjusters i have it on my .22 phantom

Yeah, but those screws are probably in the mounts. Well, this one I had was just a poor design to begin with. The laser wasn't just the typical "tube" design, it was a small tube placed in a larger square housing, and the housing was mounted to the gun. But it was so poorly designed, that it was almost as if they designed it to pop out after every shot. I'm sure the assembly process was to connect the wires and just insert it in a hole in the housing, with perhaps a dot of glue just to keep it from falling back out.

I would've paid sixty cents more for the extra screw to hold it in place, considering that is a NECESSARY component to even make this thing work. And the laser actually was pretty good. You could see it at 40-50 yards during the day even.

I'd say that if you buy things for cheap then you get cheap things, but that doesn't justify people selling things that they've done no quality assurance on and never even tried to make work.
