I was Sportsmans Warehouse yesterday.I saw some Crosman .177 Fireball pellets,I thought what the heck I'll try um just for fun.
After I got home and opened the tin I almost sh#*?t my pants.
These have got to be the worst Quality controlled pellets i have ever seen.
Do I send them to Crosman with a letter or throw them away.I wouldn't shoot these out of nothing I own would you??
Here Take a look for yourself.Every pellet in the tin (250)has screwed up shirts and half have enough left over flashing where they were swedged to give them wings.

Yeah, you don't exactly expect quality from crossman, whether it be guns or ammo. I bought some when I first started getting back into air gunning and never even shot them. They are that dark, dirty lead and are mis-shapen. I wouldn't disgrace my gun with those.

Do what I do. Shoot them an email and tell them that their ammo is crap. Either return or throw them away and go get some Beeman ammo.

That has got to be the worst batch of pellets I have ever seen! They're not just deformed- but have casting flash and slag all over them.

Beyond that- I've never had much luck with the "gimmicky" pellets.

And Crosman QC can be pretty poor at times. I don't know if I'm just lucky, or what, but the only problem I've had with Crosman's the last few years has been the Premier Superpoints: http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=595

I returned those- and I bet the retailer just re-shelved them for the next guy to come along...

Keep in mind that Crossman pellets are meant fro crossman pump pellet gun owners who are primarily 12 y/o kids who wouldn't know the difference between a quality pellet and garbage that crossman produces.

I got 4 tins of chph like that from 3 different stores. I will never buy crosman pellets again. When it ends up costing 2x the price because you have so many throw aways the value just isnt there.

Now I use beemans. More expensive but I can still support the local guy and the pellets are always the same decent quality.

Last Christmas, I was passing by one of the outdoor stores (LeBarons) just outside the city I live in(Toronto), So I decided to stop in and pick up some Gamo Round's, when these "New" Crosman pellet's caught my eye, So I picked up a couple tin's of the "Destroyer's", and a tin of the "Fireball's", The Destroyer's were Fantastic! great shooting,great grouping's, everything was good. Now I had tried the "Fireball" type of pellet before w/ Gamo Rocket's, and Daisy Precision MaX steel bb tipped round's before, and I liked them especially the Daisy's because of their light weight(7gr.) which were a lot lighter than the advertised weight of the Gamo Rocket's @10gr., Needless to say that before I opened up the tin of Fireball's, I was a little excited,,,,,,,,,that's until I opened up the tin,,I had to look twice to believe what I was seeing,,,The WORST piece of crap I've ever seen trying to pass it self off as a "PREMIUM" round,They were even much worse than the tin of "Industry" brand of pellet's that came with my QB-57-5.5, Now that's saying alot about their Q.C.
I still have my tin of "Fireball" pellet's and receipt, The next time I walk into LeBaron's they better exchange them, or I'll empty the whole bloody tin on the counter, as I'll be walking out, I'll cheerfully say"I've never even fired any of those 250 pellet's,,,you can count them all, make sure that they're all there, and then kindly stick them one by one up your A-Hole. Quality Control my a$$!,,Cheer's, Andy.

I've gone through a tin or two of Crossman wadcutters and hollow points... and they weren't too bad. Out of a tin of 500, there were like 10-20 deformed, so I just threw those out. Other than that... well... maybe I got lucky...

Yeah, but I've gone through full 500 tins of Beemans and never found more than one or two pellets that were deformed. Great quality control at that outfit.

Perhaps part of the problem with Crosman having deformed pellets (not the Fireballs like Bob posted- that's not "deformed" that's just effed-up). Crosman does not pack pellets in boxes very well, IMO. I got a shipment straight from them the other day and the tins (.22 HP's) in their plastic shelf packaging, were in boxes with too much space- so they could bang around- possibly allowing pellets in the tins to bang around excessively as well- resulting in deformities. Sadly- this is the "norm" for Crosman shipping things, not the "exception".

I went out shooting this morning and went through 500 Crossman Premier Wadcutters .177.

It really dawned on me today how crappy these pellets really are... I ended up not using at least 20 of them, had about 50 shots go way astray, and had 5 or 6 jams.

I noticed quite a few pellets where either the skirts were not consistent, still had small amounts of flashing, or were completely deformed. I also had a few pellets that when I loaded them into the 8-shot rotary clip... they just fell out the other end.

I was using a .177 Umarex Beretta XX-Treme 92FS CO2 btw.

I think some of the pellets were different densities as well... I had a few ricochets off of 1" thick plywood backing, 1 of which made a nice gouge in the right lens of my sunglasses, while some of the pellets went right through, and some were embedded in the wood.

(Also, if anyone was wondering, for each CO2 cartridge I fired 10 shots to begin, around 50-60 shots on paper, and then changed to a new cartridge.)
