First of all, springs aren't rated in pounds, and every time I see that it angers me.... They have a RATE, which is measured in lb/in, and can develop a FORCE, which is that rate multiplied by the distance they are compressed.... If you have a spring rated at 10 lb/in, that means that to compress it 1 inch (assuming it can do that) takes a force of 10 lbs.... If you only compress it 1/2 inch, it will take 5 lbs. of force to do that....
Now that I've done my rant.... I can give you the spring RATE I measured on some common Crosman hammer springs.... I included the LOA which is typical after the spring has been "set", ie compressed to coil bound and allowed to rebound (but they do vary slightly)....
22XX = 4.4 lb/in (about 1.97" long when set)
13XX = 6.5 lb/in (about 1.97" long when set)
Original Disco = 8.7 lb/in (about 1.78" long when set)
2200 = 6.8 lb/in (about 2.24" long when set)
1.75" x 0.040" (heavier, for Disco) = 13.8 lb/in (about 1.71" long when set)
I do not know what spring the PRod uses, nor do I have information on the new, stiffer and/or longer Disco spring currently used by Crosman....

| Sorry, I know all to well about spring rates as we race 1/5 scale gas buggy and we have a spring rate tester for the shock spring sets to match and to set up weight transfer and each tire contact patch weight, should have worded it better!. When calling crosman all they know is a part # and the rates you just gave me lets me know what part# to order from here on out , Thank you. |
