Does anyone know of a vendor with a good selection of silencers for air guns? I'm interested in both pistol and rifle (and easy installation too for that matter.)

Currently I'd like to muffle a Diana RWS LP8 and a Weihrauch HW90.

Check out your state and federal regulations very carefully. In the U.S., if a moderator can be easily mounted on an airgun it can be just as easily removed and be mounted on a firearm. It doesn't matter if it's on an airgun at the moment - it's probably going to be regulated. Check it out carefully.

Thanks for the notice, Slavia. I will check it out before proceeding. There may be another way around getting them quieter - some kind of tuning for example. I don't know yet... and I haven't shot the HW90 yet but the Diana RWS seems quite a bit more "clunky" when I shoot it than I expected it to be.

"Silencers," moderators, "lead dust collectors" (LDC's) - it's kind of a touchy subject. There are places in the world where it's considered impolite to shoot at a range without one. Here in the U.S. they are highly regulated by the federal government. There are airguns available with them built in, but in a way that removing them (to put on a firearm) would simply destroy them. In some states (like Michigan) that's not even legal.

You bring up a good point about tuning a gun for quietness (thinking springers here). A moderator won't do a thing to quiet mechanical noises radiating from the action. Tuning can help reduce vibration ("twang" and "buzz"). Even pellet choice can influence that. If the pellet gets moving too quickly the piston can slam into the cylinder head. Too slow and the piston can bounce off the cushion of air and lurch backward. Just right and the piston will settle in gently.
