Hi,
I just finished customizing a new 2300s. Installed a super sear which eliminated the grinding creep completely. Trigger now has about 2mm of empty take up to contact trigger to sear, and then just breaks at 1.5 lbs or so.
Limit screw holds the break movement to 1mm. Great for me as the trigger release is so smooth it doesn't effect my aim point.

Now, my question...

I've noticed that if you pull back the bolt about 1/8" the sear catches with what feels like only one or two loops of spring compression so that the sear release seems to be very close to the full cock release, but doesn't pound the valve.

I find this great for practicing my hold and trigger release.

I was wondering if this was a real feature, or am I damaging my investment?

I don't know that you'd be damaging anything in doing this- the problem with most of the newer adjustable sears is that they are aluminum, not steel like they once were- so they tend to wear faster.

I thought of that. Not like I'll need to send this one out for repair.
I really like the design. Easy to work on as a 1960s Volkswagen.

I know this is an old thread. I just installed a Supersear in a 2240, It was a big improvement over the stock trigger, dropping the pull from about 5 lbs to around 3 1/2. Next step was a roller trigger and stoning the surfaces where the trigger interacts with the sear and the sear hammer surface both of which showed macining marks and felt rough. Lastly I added one of the Crosman adjustable sear spring units, with the least tension the pull was abut 7 oz, and not really reliable so started adjusting it up and it is now just under 11 oz and completely reliable. I also shimmed the sear tor prevent misalignment/canting .Really a very easy modification.

I understand the special version made and sold by AoA with the adjust ment screw is aluminum but on the two bearing surfaces, trigger and hammer has steel inserts, The basic model, available on e bay is solid steel.
