This is from Pyramyd air guns under there ristrictions section

"Residents of Michigan may purchase anything on our site except for pellet guns or BB guns measuring 30 inches or less (overall length). These guns are regulated by Michigan as firearms and require a concealed gun permit or a Michigan state license to purchase a pistol. Blank guns and airsoft guns are NOT included in this restriction regardless of length. They may be purchased without any permit or license.

Michigan residents may purchase airguns that require state permits or licenses by following these steps:

1. Inform Pyramyd Air of the item you want to purchase.
2. The item will be shipped to the designated dealer/retailer in your area. You must find a participating dealer/retailer and let us know where to ship your gun.
3. Go to your local police department and obtain a permit to purchase the airgun. Each airgun purchase must have a separate permit.
4. After the permit is issued to you by the police, take it to the gun store where your gun was shipped.
5. After the permit is presented to the store and their fee is paid, they will give you the airgun.
6. Take the airgun back to the police department for a safety check and ballistics test.
7. After the tests are conducted and they determine that the airgun is safe, you can take the airgun home."

So in short anyone who lives in Mi.Can buy anything they want as long as it is over 30 inches.

It's About time

Has there been a problem in Michigan with people using 2240's and the like for devious purposes?

Eric.
No to the devious purposes ! Or muzzle report. The people I know do not have any problems with the law(police) But if you have a shitty neighbor who calls them(they have to do something) you may get a talking to(they will remind you of a city ordanice or something to that effect.)
The problem we had here was that most big Air Gun Distributors would not ship here.BBguns were OK and a few small pellet rifles as long as they were smooth bore.I guess some of the big ticket air gun suppliers complained to the state about there shipping laws on air rifles and thus a fix was made.
You know the old saying "The squeeky wheel gets the grease"
What ever or who ever was responsible for the change I am forever grateful.(I think It was Pyramyd they are very close to Mi in Ohio.)a 2 hour drive for me.
Before the law change the only way to by something you really liked or wanted was thru forum classified's.And even then it was iffy as to if the person would ship here or you had know sombody in another state and have them buy it for you then ship it into the state.

Kind of a Stupid law over air guns !
Some politician wanted to make a name for their self.
He must be gone so a change was made.

BBGun Bob and the Group,

How is Pyramyd as a place to buy from, can you go there and look around, etc?

I'm from around Adrian, which is pretty south in Michigan and only about 20 mins from Ohio...

Yeah, the pain of it all! The absolute hassle of buying a handgun in Michigan.

I bought my last Crosman 2230S (like a 2240 for silhouette) and had to get a handgun permit, etc. Painful, so painful!

I also have an IZZY 46m that I had to get a permit for and the police actually said, "what is it?" about the gun and "why did you bring it here?". That's how much the law is misunderstood here in Michigan.

To the guns credit though, they all thought it was cool! : )

Hey John, I got a question.

Do you happen to know any dutch families? I have some immigrant-family members in Michigan somewhere.

No, and they might be located more near Detroit or possibly Holland (Michigan).

But I'm Hungarian, but that probably doesn't help! ; )

Ha, Ha, no I don't know those people! : )

My family is directly from Hungary, but I'm actually American!

I have a friend that is from Canada, and she says that when people find out that she is from Canada, they always say, hey do you know, <insert>?

Because as you all know, ALL Canadians know each other! ; )

Beaner,

Please let me know what you find out! I'd be happy to hear of ANY decent air gun places ANYWHERE in Michigan.

I live in the Southern part of the state, near Tecumseh/Adrian, etc, and I don't know of any good places to buy airgun supplies! Shocked

Ever since I saw that Michigan banned dove hunting, I lost all respect for that state. I got one thing to say for you Michigan....

I wish I had a picture of me with my air pistol to add further insult to injury, but you get the gist.

Grow a pair Michigan.

A bit sad to hunt for doves. But then, they didn't belong in the states in the first place, now did they? Neutral

There is a bad pun about it being sad to hunt "mourning" doves, but I won't say it (I guess I already did, lol).
