A while back I decided to give the barrel of one of my TF-89s a bit of a trim, down to 12" actually. After having it out and shooting it a handful of times I was so surprised by how much less hold sensitive it was and was having so much more fun that I never actually did any type of real tests to see what I'd really done to her. Before the chop the average was somewhere around 806 shooting Premier HP, not sure of Polymags anymore since this gun got pushed to the back burner for a bit before I became distracted from airguns all together for a little while but I wanna say they were maybe 740ish.
Fast forward a couple years to now, the Premiers were shooting between 751 and 710 with Polymags clocking at about 705 average. So a bit of a loss but there is a noticeably louder snap at the muzzle. It isn't loud but when shooting into the grass in my back yard it definitely echoed off the houses nearby, not loud enough to cause any alarm but maybe enough to spark curiosity in anyone nearby when not shooting from inside the house. With the reduction in hold sensitivity it's all worth it, added cocking effort included (til I lathe a nice muzzle extension at work!).
Anyway, here she is with my 397 that just got a 4-16x40AO CenterPoint today. It may sound like a lot of glass for the gun but for its given application the zoom is well appreciated in the 40 yard range it stretches to from time to time.
