This isn't a new project, but I came across it in my box and can't remember posting it, so... Besides, it's -5 Deg. F. out and sitting in front of the computer is a warm alternative.

My brother came to visit once with a pellet sorter box like this one:

I thought it was kind of cool, and set out to make one. The box is from my one-year anniversary keychain (from work). The keychain rusted in short order, but the box is still around. The plastic is from a drugstore floor display that was discarded. Metal parts are all hardware store fare.

"T" nuts to me are like duct tape for some people. I spin them in a drill and grind on them with a Dremel until they do what I want:

The solid plate is a "floor" that sits under the perforated plate, and slides up/down:

I use this thing when I'm sitting at a bench flaring pellet skirts with a loading tool. To use it you just throw the pellets in:

Give it a shake, and the pellets fall headfirst into the holes:

That middle screw is connected to the "floor," and is a little longer than the feet:

Set it on a flat surface and the middle screw pushes the "floor" (and pellets) up so you can pick them out:

Very inventive. That could be worth a patent or two!

I would make one for you, except I would have to quit my job, get immediately re-hired, and wait a year for the anniversary keychain.

OK. Thanks for offering to do all this. I guess I'll wait a year then. Laughing

What size did you drill the holes?

Going back and measuring them now, they're all 0.184" - 0.185," so probably a #13 bit. I do remember countersinking them by hand - i.e., the bit between my fingers. I would say that less than 1% go in skirt first when you shake it.
