Recently I ordered some Gammo lead balls and I understand that they are recommended for use only in pellet aiguns but why? Is it because of the rifled barrel of pellet airguns or has it to do with the specific size of the lead balls? Maybe they're just a bit larger than 4.5 mm or .177 cal and would jam up inside of a smooth barrel?

Hopefully this weekend I'll find the time to do some shooting with them to see if they shoot the same or better than BB's or pellets. Does anybody else have experience with them?

Maybe I should have used the search function before writing the post above;

I have been using them for years in my .177 air rifles. Hit extremely hard. accurate out to 25 metres. And you are kind of right, they are bigger than a BB, and are actually measured to .177 specs. BB's are not. That is why you cant use them in a "BB" gun. You wont be let down . the other post you read only tells SOME of the story. They hit hard, and do not damage air rifles.
