I have a 617x and the only way I could get the lazer to work was one that mounted to the trigger guard. It worked good and held steady though. |

really? Thats amazing. I would have figured that mount would move. I wish they made amount only, as i already have a laser. Anyways, i may think again about getting one. How do you like the 617 anyways? Do you think it's pellet velocity specs are conservative as some others have said? |

THe only problem I have with it, is that the barrel on the 617 has some slop in it, so it's not a very accurate pistol. Another thing I don't like is that it will spring open sometimes if you don't close it just so. I like my 1088 better and you can mount a site on the rail under the barrel on that one. THey are both good pistols though for the money. I don't shoot them that often. Usually out on the farm in the barn at different birds and crawly things. I usually have to double tap on either pistol. I'd much rather use my 2300, but I don't have to worry about noise. If it was me, I would go with the 1088 and use the weaver rail under the barrel. |

Well, the problem i have with that is the 1088 has lots of bad reviews while it's just the opposite for the 617. Plus the 617 velocity specs are better and it is said by a number of people to shoot much faster than the specs even suggest. So it's hard for me to consider the 1088 over the 617. Is your 617 fairly new or old? I ask because i think i read something that sounded like they may have fixed those issues, and that would makes sense since the reviews almost to a man suggest it's accurate and reliable. I did read one review that mentioned the latch not holding sometimes, but that could have been an older one. anyways, i also looked at a 1088 and it was literally the cheapest looking pistol i've looked at to date. So it's hard for me to consider that gun with all i've read. |

I'm just telling you what I know. I personally have both and the latch on the 617x doesn't stay closed all the time. I have less than 1000 shots thru both and I haven't had the problems of the 1088. I guess I just got a good one. THey both are a couple-three years old. |
