a solid hit from a good size rock could be potentially life threatening. For defensive hanguns, i prefer calibers beginning with a .4, and a snub 357mag makes a good backup piece

jsb makes a 10+gr pellet and H&N has the barracuda which is 10.6g. both are very good pellets

You cant uncock your rifle. you will have to shoot the pellet out. Gamo breakbarrels have an anti-beartrap mechanism
